Atla is a cartoon-anime about a group of friends trying to end a hundred year war together. The avatar is the person tasked with maintaining the balance of the world, but due to their disappearance the war has lasted for longer, and the most powerful prosperous nation has expanded its empire.

One fateful day, my older brother was watching TV when the episode first aired, not sure where I was (probably in my room) but he watched it and loved it, and told me about it. We watched the re-run together with my little brother and we both loved it. I was immediately absorbed. I personally have more fun when things have an interesting story, and when i was a child i always hoped cartoons would end up having interesting stories but i always got disappointed. Before ATLA most cartoons were episodic without an overarching story, even those cartoons that did want to have an overarching story were not allowed by networks. But this is type of storytelling was specifically what I was looking for in a cartoon, I am easily drawn to magic and fantasy.

I became extremely obsessed with it, I loved it so much, and the adventures they had made my imagination fly. I really admire its character driven narrative, the premise is to save the world but each character has an arc to go through so that working together can be achieved, which in turn introduced me to the concept of found family and i obsessed so much over it. Another thing I love very much is the magic system, its very good, interesting and fun. I love how they are all modeled after real life martial arts and each reflect the personality of the element that is being used and each one is a spiritual artistic thing, not meant to be used for violence even if people want to try to use them for it. My first favorite episode was "Zuko Alone" and then "The Firebending Masters"
