Welcome!!
Pride and prejudice is a critique of the social dynamics, wealth, class, rank, and economy of Jane Austen’s time just as much as it is a romance novel. It describes the predicament of women and the unfairness of needing to find a rich husband to be well-off, how a person of high rank is not automatically kind or understanding, as well as the importance of recognizing mistakes and correcting them. The novel revolves around the Bennet family, particularly Elizabeth, whose point of view we are always seeing, and we learn of the world and the people around her through her eyes.

I am not sure when exactly I watched the 2005 film for the actual first time; because the very first time I do remember being too tired and I fell asleep without being able to find out what it was about. We had gotten the DVD from my aunt who lent it to my mom, and my mom, my sister and I watched it on our small DVD Player (which I still have!!!!) and that was when I fell asleep. Admittedly it was a bit uncomfortable to watch such a small screen for three people.
I believe I was around 13 when I actually watched it; this time I think we played it on our big tv. I think I have always been a romantic so I was immediately starstruck. It is such a beautiful movie, the cinematography is incredibly interesting, the colors are vibrant, the locations are beautiful, the wardrobe is varied and reflects each character perfectly, the music is incredibly good and of course the acting is perfect; to name a few.
Soon after we bought the book at a bookstore near my house and I read it, though certain themes and social morals were lost on me (like for example, how marriage used to be a business transaction only and marrying for love wasn’t the main objective; or how dreadful and immoral eloping was considered) but I learned a lot on the customs of the people back then anyway, and most importantly to me I fell in love with the love story even more. I really like the sort of enemies to lovers that they have, Darcy falls in love with Elizabeth almost immediately but still he is somewhat antagonistic about it. Seeing them grow as people, face obstacles and end up together so happily was so incredibly compelling, and its possibly the first couple I ever liked? Who knows. Also they are lesbians to me.
I have many more things to say but I shall continue later
